Transferring Business Phones to an Answering Service
One of the most common and consistently asked questions that we get from prospective clients is “so how does this work?”, or “how do I get my phones to you guys?” Usually what they are referring to is the transferring of their business phones to the answering service. While the technicalities of call forwarding can be rather complicated, procedurally, it is actually quite easy involving call forwarding and a toll-free telephone number.
A toll-free telephone number or freephone number is a telephone number that is billed for all arriving calls instead of incurring charges to the originating telephone subscriber. For the calling party, a call to a toll-free number from a landline is free of charge. At Centratel, we provide our clients with a designated toll free number that is associated with every individual account and this is how our system knows which calls are coming in on which accounts.
How it Works
After working closely with a new client during the on-boarding process to set up the account for the specific needs of the business, a new account specialist provides the new client with a toll-free forwarding number. Having ensured that the new client has call forwarding enabled through their phone service provider, the new answering service client is then free to roll their phones over to the answering service using their forwarding sequence and new toll-free forwarding number.
By providing our clients with a toll-free forwarding number Centratel customers do not accrue any long-distance charges for utilizing the answering service. Forwarding the business lines is always free and the call forwarding sequences are typically quite simple, usually something like *72 and then the designated forwarding number. Keeping it easy and cost effective, just one more way that Centratel aims to help our clients.
